What is the point of the donations in Pixie Hollow?

Are they just a dumb thing to get people to be charitable for nothing? Or can poor non-members get their hands on some of the things donated?What is the point of the donations in Pixie Hollow?

It's really an option for members. "Donating" is really just like "Deleting" but put in a nicer way. The items aren't actually donated; i think they're just deleted completely. This is because there is limited storage for fairies. When members fill up their entire inventory, they can't get anything else, because it's full. If they want to by more, they need to make room. To do this, they need to get rid of some things.



Personally I think the storage space is waaay too small, and it's really hard to give up the clothes you like (and are actually paying to get). But i suppose it's better than the option of not being able to buy anything else at all.
